Purdue developing oil spill website

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —

Purdue University is developing a website with more than 30,000 hours of underwater video from the BP oil spill.

The Journal & Courier reports that the site at www.oilspillHUB.org contains a video archive that will provide resources for researchers and educators.

More than 400 videos shot by 14 remotely operated underwater vehicles are on the site so far. The videos are being provided to Purdue by the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Video documenting the entire spill is expected to be available eventually.

An April 20 oil rig explosion in which 11 workers died led to millions of gallons of oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico.
