Supreme Court won’t hear case pitting native bands against Saskatchewan pipelines
OTTAWA – The Supreme Court of Canada will not hear complaints brought by three Saskatchewan native bands against two pipeline companies.
The Sweetgrass and Moosomin First Nations and the Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation argued that Enbridge, TransCanada PipeLines and the National Energy Board failed to consult them before decisions were made on building three pipelines.
The energy board said it followed proper procedures.
The natives appealed the board decisions to the Federal Court of Canada, which dismissed the cases.
As usual in leave applications, the Supreme Court gave no reasons for its decision.
