Exclusive: Fonda calls Obama ‘f**king traitor,’ defends suppressed Gulf victims
At “The Big Fix” movie press conference at the Cannes Film Festival Wednesday, the day after the movie’s world premiere there, Peter Fonda explained why he wrote to President Obama calling him an f**king traitor. Fonda was writing in defense of suppressed Gulf Coast oil and Corexit victims after a government official contacted him telling him he could not mention at that conference the thousands of dead bay dolphins and dead dolphin fetuses in the Gulf following the BP-Deep Horizon oil “spill.”
As Fonda had explained to Dupré on Tuesday, he fully intended to tell the reporters at the scheduled press conference for “The Big Fix” about the dead baby dolphins. He agreed the same was bound to be happening to women’s babies and fetuses.
At the conference, he repeated what he had said Tuesday, “I sent an email to President Obama saying, ‘You are a f**king traitor,’ using those words.”
‘You’re a traitor. You allowed foreign boots on our soil telling our military — in this case the coastguard… telling us, the citizens of the United States, what we could or could not do’.”
Fonda, executive producer of “The Big Fix,” called BP “a bunch of Brits.”
“I thought we kicked them out a long time ago,” he said, adding, “They tried to get back in in 1812, but they didn’t make it.
Approximately 70 people crowded into the room for the press conference at the American Pavilion to hear Fonda, The Big Fix director Josh Tickell and co-director, Rebecca Harrell Tickell and singer songwriter, Jason Mraz.
In “The Big Fix movie,” Fonda and the Tickells are filmed while being told where they could and could not go on public Gulf beaches to report the catastrophe.
After this writer told Fonda about the account 13-year old Jessica Hagan has given about “all the women miscarrying” in her Gulf community since the oil “spill,” he told Dupré he was proud of Hagan and all the people like Jessica Hagan speaking the truth about the oil-related humanitarian crisis.
“I’m glad she’s been videoed saying that,” he said.
Scientists have linked the dead baby dolphins to human miscarriages and stillbirths. Women of the Gulf have been re-victimized for telling medical staff they believe their reproductive health issues are related to the Gulf chemicals since the 2010 Gulf oil “spill.”
Hearing the tragic Gulf accounts presented by the Tickells, Mraz and Fonda moved young and old at the crowded press conference to tears.
